Battle of the Alamo, 175th Anniversary

The Alamo.  Photo by the author.

  1. I have had the privilege of having visited the Alamo maybe 15 years ago. Outside of Texas, I wonder if anyone today remembers the significance of it and those brave folks that died fighting Santa Ana and his army?

  2. It used to be iconic--the fight for liberty against tyranny. Now, to the extent it seems to get any attention at all, it's vaguely indicted as anti-Mexican (even though the defenders were a mixture of Texians and Tejanos). The rebellion against Santa Ana was a rebellion against a dictator, something free people everywhere should celebrate.

  3. You are absolutely correct in your assessment, sir. It is sad what history is NOT teaching our students these days.
